Vinz Feel Free, parlaci un po ‘di te (nome, età, città di nascita e città in cui sei più attivo artisticamente parlando, ecc.)
Mi chiamo Vinz, ho 41 anni e sono nato a Valencia, in Spagna, dove risiedo. Da quando mio figlio è nato quasi 4 anni fa svolgo la maggior parte della mia attività qui.
Vinz Feel Free, tell us a little about yourself (Name, age, city of birth and city where you are most active artistically speaking, etc.)
My name is Vinz I’m 41 yo and I was born in Valencia, Spain, where I’m based. Since my son was born almost 4 years ago I do most of my activity here.
Quando e come hai iniziato a creare le tue opere d’arte? Da dove viene la tua passione?
Ho iniziato da bambino, poi ho studiato Belle Arti ma è stato nel 2011 quando ho iniziato il mio progetto “Feel Free” e da allora ci sto lavorando.
When and how did you start creating your works of art? Where does your passion come from?
I started when I was a child, then I studied Fine Arts but it was in 2011 when I started my project “Feel Free” and since then, I’m working on it.
Quando prepari un nuovo lavoro, segui uno schema creativo ricorrente o è molto influenzato dal momento? Raccontaci come nascono le tue opere.
Per prima cosa ho un’idea. Nasce dalle mie esperienze, di solito un mix di ciò che ho visto, letto, ascoltato e vissuto, durante diversi momenti della mia vita. Quindi faccio uno schizzo veloce e chiamo un modello. Le mostro o le faccio vedere, poi scatto alcune foto e scelgo quella che preferisco. Faccio tutte le composizioni con il computer e le stampo su larga scala. Poi dipingo le teste e i dettagli. È un processo piuttosto lungo.
When you prepare a new work, do you follow a recurring creative pattern or is it very influenced by the moment? Tell us how your works are born.
First I have an idea. It comes from my own experiences, usually a mix of what I saw, read, listened and lived, during different moments of my life. Then I do a quick sketch and I call a model. I show her or them, then I shoot some pics and I choose the one I prefer. I do all composition with the computer and print it on a large scale. Then I paint the heads and details. It’s a quite long process.
Che tecnica usi? L’hai sempre usato o è cambiato nel tempo? In caso affermativo, perché?
Poiché lavoro con la fotografia e la pittura, utilizzo molti tipi di carta, tecniche e materiali diversi. Ogni volta è diverso, dipende dal formato finale che voglio mostrare. Ma adoro sperimentare nuovi materiali.
What technique do you use? Did you always use that or did it change over time? If so, why?
As I work with photography and painting, I use a lot of different papers, techniques and materials. Each time is different, it depends on the final format I want to show. But I love to experiment with new materials.
Cosa vuoi trasmettere con i tuoi lavori?
Voglio parlare di persone comuni nella vita ordinaria usando personaggi invece di persone reali. Come in una favola. Voglio raccontare storie di ciò che sta accadendo in questo momento.
What do you want to convey with your works?
I want to talk about common people in ordinary life using characters instead of real people. Like in a fable. I want to tell stories of what is happening right now.
Cosa ne pensi della street art in Italia e all’estero?
Hanno degli artisti di strada fantastici. I miei preferiti sono Blu e Biancoshock. So che ora ci sono centinaia o addirittura migliaia di artisti di strada in ogni paese. Ma adoro quelli originali.
What do you think of street art in Italy and abroad?
They have awesome street artists. My favourites are Blu and Biancoshock. I know now there are hundreds or even thousands of street artists in each country. But I love the original ones.
Quanto tempo ci vuole per preparare un’opera, dall’idea alla parete?
Circa 3 settimane senza sosta.
How long does it take you to prepare a work, from the idea to the wall?
Around 3 weeks non stop.
Vinz, come ti vedi artisticamente parlando tra dieci anni?
Evoluto.
Vinz, how do you see yourself artistically speaking in ten years?
Evolved.
Hai collaborato con altri artisti stranieri o vorresti? Chi sarebbe e perché ammiri particolarmente questo artista?
Ho fatto solo alcune collaborazioni con artisti che ammiro per diversi motivi. Mario Testino, Hyuro, Txema Rodríguez e Spencer Tunick. Sempre con le persone posso imparare qualcosa.
Have you collaborated with other foreign artists or would you like? Who would it be and why do you particularly admire this artist?
I did just some collabs with artists I admire for different reasons. Mario Testino, Hyuro, Txema Rodríguez and Spencer Tunick. Always with people I can learn something.
Mentori: c’è un artista da cui prendi ispirazione? Se è così, chi è? Come ti ha aiutato?
Avevo artisti che considero mentori o insegnanti. Ma la loro influenza non è mai diretta. Se è così, sarei un allievo, non un artista originale.
